Ripple Prime Opens 24/7 RWA Swaps to Institutional Clients

Ripple Prime now clears 24/7 perpetual swaps on more than 100 reference markets, from equities to FX, through Trade.xyz contracts on Hyperliquid.

Ripple Prime has opened a new set of markets to its institutional clients. On 15 October 2026, Ripple said its prime brokerage now supports real-world asset perpetual swaps, and that clients including Virtu are already trading them across more than 100 reference markets.

Those markets span equities, equity indices, ETFs, metals, energy and FX. They trade and settle 24/7, which is the part a Wall Street desk will notice first.

What Ripple Prime Clients Are Actually Trading

"RWA perps" can mean a few different things, so it is worth being exact. According to Ripple's announcement, the swaps are traded through Ripple Prime as principal and reference perpetual futures contracts listed by Trade.xyz on Hyperliquid, a decentralized derivatives venue. Ripple Prime is the counterparty; the client is not dealing with Hyperliquid directly.

The details around the trade are where the offer gets interesting. Clients can cross-margin their RWA swap exposures against the other asset classes Ripple Prime supports, so a position in an equity index does not have to sit in its own silo. They can also post RLUSD, Ripple's stablecoin, as collateral.

Availability is limited for now. Ripple says the offering runs out of Ripple Prime's CIV BVI license, with the intention to add regions soon. Ripple also describes "exponential growth in trading volumes of perpetual futures contracts tied to real world assets year-to-date," which is the company's own framing of the demand it is chasing.

A Brokerage That Doesn't Want to Be the Venue

The plainest detail sits on Ripple Prime's own product page: it calls itself an institutional prime broker, not a trading venue, and says it does not serve retail clients. It clears and finances trades executed elsewhere, across digital and traditional markets.

The page goes further. Ripple Prime says it does not run a proprietary desk that trades against client flow, so client positions never compete with the house's own book. For an institution picking a broker, that is the promise that matters, and it is the kind of thing you can check later: in the clearing list, the collateral options, and the decision to route through an outside venue rather than build one.

That list is broad already. The product page says Ripple Prime clears and finances FX, fixed income, listed and OTC derivatives, equities and precious metals alongside digital assets, with regulated U.S. futures through CME and Nodal Clear and a direct integration with Hyperliquid for DeFi margin.

"RWA swaps are where traditional and digital markets meet," said Michael Higgins, International CEO of Ripple Prime.

Virtu's side of it is a business case rather than a slogan. Scotte Moegling, head of business development for digital assets at Virtu, said the firm is ramping up across emerging liquidity pools, and that Ripple Prime's 24/7 cross-margining across asset classes helps Virtu expand more efficiently as markets move toward round-the-clock access.

Where XRP and RLUSD Fit, and Where They Don't

Ripple says RLUSD and XRP underpin its capabilities, and the collateral list includes RLUSD, XRP, tokenized real-world assets and traditional collateral. RLUSD is the asset named for these swap transactions specifically, which puts the stablecoin in the plumbing of a product sold to institutions.

That is not the same as XRP demand, and the announcement does not claim it is. The launch is about a brokerage adding contracts to its menu, not about a token. Reading a price effect into it would be a guess.

There is a longer pattern here. Ripple Prime added support for Hyperliquid earlier this year, letting clients cross-margin DeFi derivatives exposure with traditional asset classes, and it launched a Delta One business for total return swaps on U.S. stocks, indices and crypto. Each step moves the same direction: more asset classes, one relationship.

The open question is scale. The release names Virtu and puts no number on how much has traded, so the size of the business is not visible from outside yet. The next real signal will not be another announcement. It will be published volumes, or a longer client list.
