Robinhood plans to launch crypto perpetual futures for U.S. users, 24/7 weekend stock trading and AI-powered trading agents.

Robinhood is bringing perpetual futures to eligible U.S. users as it expands into more advanced trading products.
The company plans to launch crypto perpetual futures, or perps, in the coming months. It also plans to let users trade selected U.S. stocks and ETFs around the clock, including weekends.
At the same time, Robinhood is bringing AI-powered trading agents directly into its app.
The three launches are part of a broader push to make Robinhood a platform for active traders across crypto, stocks and automated trading.
Robinhood will allow eligible U.S. users to trade perpetual futures on eight crypto assets: Bitcoin, Ether, Solana, XRP, Dogecoin, Cardano, Chainlink and Hyperliquid.
Perpetual futures are contracts with no fixed expiry date. Unlike traditional futures, traders can keep positions open without rolling into a new contract.
Robinhood plans to offer up to 10x leverage on Bitcoin and Ether perpetuals. The other six assets will have leverage of up to 3x.
The contracts will be offered through Robinhood Derivatives and supported by Bitstamp. Robinhood said it will charge 0.01% per trade through the end of 2026.
Users will also have access to stop-loss and take-profit orders. The platform will show liquidation prices in real time and alert traders when positions face liquidation risk.
Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev described the products as a new chapter for U.S. derivatives. He also said the contracts will have no expiry, with profit and loss settled every 15 minutes.
The launch comes as perpetual futures continue moving from crypto-native platforms toward regulated U.S. markets.
Robinhood already offers crypto perpetuals to eligible customers in other markets. Its broader international expansion has also included perpetual products tied to commodities, ETFs and foreign exchange.
Robinhood also plans to introduce 24/7 trading for a selected group of U.S. stocks and ETFs.
The feature is still subject to regulatory review.
Robinhood already operates its 24 Hour Market, which lets customers trade hundreds of stocks and ETFs from Sunday evening through Friday evening.
The new service would extend that access through the entire weekend.
The initial offering will use a curated list of stocks and ETFs rather than the full U.S. equity market. Robinhood said the weekend session will be powered by Bruce ATS, an alternative trading system designed for institutional trading.
The company first introduced its 24 Hour Market in 2023. The existing service currently operates from Sunday at 8 p.m. ET through Friday at 8 p.m. ET.
Weekend trading would therefore remove another gap between traditional U.S. market hours and the always-on trading model already common in crypto.
The move also fits Robinhood's wider expansion into onchain markets. Its Robinhood Chain has already seen substantial trading activity, with tokenized assets, decentralized exchanges and perpetual markets becoming part of the ecosystem.
Altcoin Buzz previously reported that Robinhood Chain's TVL reached an all-time high as the network expanded its DeFi activity and stablecoin liquidity.

Robinhood is also making AI trading more accessible with Robinhood Agents.
The feature allows users to build AI agents directly inside the Robinhood app. These agents can research markets, develop strategies and execute trades based on user-defined instructions.
Robinhood launched agentic trading in May, allowing users to connect their own third-party AI agents to the platform.
The company said more than 150,000 customers have opened agentic trading accounts since then. Those agents now use Robinhood's tools nearly 30 million times a day, according to the company.
Robinhood Agents takes the process a step further by putting the AI tools directly inside the app.
Users can choose an AI model, create a dedicated trading account and define the limits under which the agent can operate.
Robinhood also plans to introduce Loops, which will allow users to turn a strategy into a recurring instruction for an AI agent.
For example, an agent could monitor markets continuously and execute a trade when predefined conditions are met.
Robinhood says users can keep manual trade approvals enabled or allow the agent to execute trades automatically.
Robinhood's latest announcements connect three different parts of its trading strategy.
Perpetual futures give users leveraged crypto exposure without fixed expirations. Weekend stock trading extends access to traditional markets. AI agents add automation on top of both the research and trading process.
That combination could make Robinhood increasingly relevant to traders who want access to multiple markets from one platform.
It also shows how the line between crypto and traditional trading continues to narrow.
Crypto markets have operated around the clock for years. Perpetual futures are one of their most widely used derivatives products, while automated trading has become common across digital-asset platforms.
Robinhood is now bringing parts of that model into its U.S. brokerage.
Robinhood's planned launch comes as other companies explore ways to offer perpetual futures to U.S. traders.
The regulatory structure around perps remains an important issue because perpetual contracts do not have the traditional expiry structure associated with futures.
Robinhood's products will be offered through its registered derivatives business, but the rollout remains subject to the applicable regulatory framework and eligibility requirements. Robinhood itself warns that futures and perpetual futures involve significant risk and are not suitable for everyone.
The company is also entering a market where crypto-native platforms have already made perpetual futures a major trading product.
That makes Robinhood's distribution among U.S. retail traders an important part of the launch.
Robinhood expects its U.S. perpetual futures to launch in the coming months for eligible customers.
Weekend stock trading will also arrive in the coming months, but it requires regulatory review before launch.
Robinhood Agents and Agent Apps are also coming to eligible U.S. customers, with additional tools planned for automated strategies.
The broader direction is clear: Robinhood is expanding from a traditional retail brokerage into a platform that combines stocks, crypto, derivatives, 24/7 markets and AI-powered trading.
For U.S. users, the biggest change could be the ability to access these products from one app rather than using separate platforms for traditional markets, crypto perps and automated strategies.
Robinhood's next phase will therefore be less about extending trading hours and more about making markets available around the clock, across more asset classes and with AI increasingly involved in how trades are researched and executed.
