Sentora Launches the First Externally Curated Markets on Aave V4
Sentora runs three new Aave V4 markets on Ethereum for borrowing RLUSD, PYUSD and OUSD. Here is how Hubs, Spokes and external curators fit together.

For the first time, a team outside Aave decides what you can borrow against on Aave V4. Sentora has launched three markets on Ethereum where users can borrow RLUSD, PYUSD and OUSD against yield-bearing and bluechip collateral. Aave calls them the first externally curated markets on V4.
The interesting part isn't the three markets themselves. It's who picked the collateral. Sentora chose it and manages the risk, while the markets run on the same V4 codebase as every other Aave market.
Who Sentora Is
Aave's announcement describes Sentora as an institutional DeFi platform. It has allocated more than $2 billion across onchain strategies, and more than 1,000 risk models are built into each strategy it runs, according to the same post.
That background matters because a curator's main job is risk. On V4, Sentora is the one setting the rules for its markets, not Aave's own risk teams.
How Hubs and Spokes Split the Work
Aave V4 is built around what it calls a Hub and Spoke architecture. It's easier to follow one piece at a time.
- Liquidity Hubs hold deposits. Think of a Hub as the pool of money lenders put in.
- Spokes are the markets that let users borrow from a Hub. Each Spoke has its own collateral and risk rules.
So one pool of deposits can sit behind several markets, each with different ideas about what counts as acceptable collateral. A rough comparison is a bank vault serving several loan desks. The comparison has limits, though: here the desks are smart contracts with rules written in code, not staff making judgement calls.
What an External Curator Controls
External curation lets independent risk managers run their own Hub and markets on V4. They choose the collateral and other parameters while building on Aave's audited infrastructure.
Sentora operates a dedicated Liquidity Hub on Ethereum that currently supports three markets. In other words, it has its own deposit pool and its own set of Spokes, rather than adding a new asset to an existing Aave market.
The tradeoff is clear enough. Aave gets markets it didn't have to design itself, and a specialist gets to set its own risk choices without building a lending protocol from scratch.
The Three Markets and Their Collateral
Market | You can borrow | Accepted collateral |
|---|---|---|
RLUSD Yield | RLUSD | USDe, PRIME, mWIN, PST |
OUSD Yield | OUSD | USDe, PRIME, mWIN, PST |
Bluechip | RLUSD, PYUSD or OUSD | kBTC |
The two Yield markets share the same four collateral assets and differ only in what you borrow. The Bluechip market flips that: one collateral asset, three things to borrow.
Aave's post lists PRIME, mWIN, PST and kBTC but doesn't explain what they are or who issues them. Anyone weighing these markets will want that answer before anything else, since collateral quality is what a lending market lives or dies on.
Where Aave Keeps the Keys
Handing risk decisions to an outside team raises an obvious question: what stops a curator from loosening the rules too far? Aave lists three safeguards.
- Aave DAO retains ownership of the contracts.
- Every risk-increasing change passes through a 48-hour timelock, so it can't take effect immediately.
- New assets go through Aave governance review before they are listed.
So the curator steers, but the DAO still owns the car. Sentora can't quietly add a new collateral asset without governance review, and any change that raises risk has to wait two days.
What Comes Next for Sentora’s Aave V4 Markets
Sentora’s first curated markets mark an important step in bringing external risk management to Aave V4. Their performance will depend on how much liquidity they attract, how actively users borrow, and whether the available market parameters support sustainable activity. Deposits, borrowing demand, and interest rates will help show whether Sentora’s approach can gain traction within the new framework.
The next milestone is how these markets develop in practice. Their adoption could help demonstrate the role independent curators can play in shaping Aave V4 markets, while future collateral additions remain subject to Aave’s governance process.
