Solana Hits $102: 3 Reasons Behind SOL’s Latest Rally

Solana briefly touched $102 for the first time since February as the broader crypto market rallied. Here are three key factors driving SOL’s latest recovery and the levels traders are watching next.

Solana (SOL) has returned to the spotlight after briefly touching $102 on August 25, marking the first time the cryptocurrency reached the $100 level since February. The move came as the broader crypto market accelerated higher, with Bitcoin reclaiming $80,000 and capital rotating into major altcoins.

SOL has since pulled back from the $102 peak and is trading around the mid-$90s, but the move still represents a sharp recovery from the $75 area on August 16. That puts Solana’s weekly gain at more than 25% and leaves traders watching whether the token can turn the psychological $100 level into support.

Several factors are behind the move.

Bitcoin’s Rally Is Pulling Solana Higher

The first catalyst is the broader crypto market recovery.

Bitcoin recently crossed $80,000 for the first time since mid-May, supported by a weaker US dollar, improving policy expectations and renewed risk appetite.

That strength has created room for large-cap altcoins to catch up. Solana has been one of the stronger beneficiaries, with traders rotating into SOL as momentum spreads beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum.

The latest rally therefore needs to be viewed within the larger market move rather than as an isolated Solana event.

Related: Previously we covered Solana ETF inflows surging to their strongest weekly level since May, showing that institutional interest in SOL products had started improving even before the latest price breakout.

Solana’s $100 Breakout Is the Key Technical Test

SOL’s move above $100 is significant because the level had acted as a major psychological barrier during the recovery.

The token climbed from roughly $75 on August 16 to $102 on August 25, before sellers pushed it back below the round number level. The immediate question is now whether buyers can defend the area around $94 - $95 and eventually attempt another move above $100.

A sustained break above $100 would strengthen the recovery structure. On the other hand, losing the $94 - $95 zone could signal that the latest surge needs more time to consolidate.

The market is therefore watching the reaction after the initial breakout rather than simply the fact that SOL touched $100.

Solana Activity and Ecosystem Momentum Add Support

The third factor is activity across the Solana ecosystem.

Solana has continued attracting attention across DeFi and real-world assets. Earlier this week, the network's RWA ecosystem crossed $4 billion, with tokenized equities becoming an increasingly important part of the growth.

That comes alongside broader developments around Solana's infrastructure. The network is also preparing for its Alpenglow upgrade, which targets significantly faster transaction finality and represents another major development for the blockchain.

These developments do not guarantee further gains for SOL, but they give the current recovery a stronger fundamental backdrop than price momentum alone.

What Comes Next for SOL?

Solana's move to $102 confirms that buyers have regained control after months of weakness, but the next phase could be more difficult.

The $100 - $102 area is now the immediate resistance zone. A sustained move above it could reinforce the bullish breakout and keep the recovery going. Meanwhile, the $94 - $95 region remains important for determining whether the latest pullback is simply consolidation or the beginning of a deeper correction.

For now, SOL's return above $100 is another sign that the broader crypto recovery is spreading into major altcoins. Whether Solana can hold that level, however, will depend heavily on continued market-wide momentum and whether buyers step back in after the recent surge.
