Overview

Stellar XLM price is trading at $0.18 as of August 31, 2026, just barely above the 200-day EMA at $0.17. The token sits roughly 40 percent below its recent swing high of $0.30, suggesting a pullback within a longer downtrend. The overall mood is cautious: price is pinned right at the middle Bollinger Band, and multiple moving averages are stacked at the same level, creating a compressed, indecisive market structure.

The weight of technical evidence is split almost evenly between bullish and bearish signals, which is why the cumulative score sits at a neutral 4.3 out of 10. Stellar shows some promise in its chart pattern: a double bottom formation typically signals a reversal: and the Bollinger Bands are positioned to give price room to move upward. However, this optimism is countered by falling on-balance volume, a descending trendline, thick overhead resistance, and a MACD histogram that has just turned negative. The result is a classic stalemate.

RSI: Neutral momentum at the midpoint

The RSI sits at 48.9, just below the neutral 50 level, indicating that neither buyers nor sellers have clear momentum. This reading is not overbought (above 70) or oversold (below 30), meaning there is no extreme condition to reverse. A value this close to the center suggests the market is in a holding pattern, with neither upside nor downside pressure dominant at this moment.

Score: 5 / 10 | Neutral

Moving Averages: All bunched up with a minor macro signal

The 20, 50, and 100-day EMAs are all stacked at $0.18, which is the current price: a rare alignment that shows the token has found temporary equilibrium. The 200-day EMA sits slightly lower at $0.17, meaning price remains above the macro trend filter, which is one of the few bullish elements in the setup. However, the flatness of all these averages suggests no clear directional bias, and the proximity of price to all four lines leaves no room for price to breathe without breaking a moving average and creating a new signal.

Score: 4 / 10 | Bearish

Bollinger Bands: Room to move in both directions

Stellar XLM price sits exactly at the midline of the Bollinger Bands at $0.18, with the upper band at $0.21 and the lower band at $0.15. This central position is textbook neutral territory and suggests volatility is neither expanding nor compressing excessively. The bands offer clear targets: a move above $0.21 would signal potential strength, while a drop to $0.15 would confirm weakness. For now, the bands are wide enough to contain a meaningful swing in either direction.

Score: 6 / 10 | Bullish

Fibonacci Retracements: Trapped in the lower half of the recovery

The swing high was $0.30 and the swing low was $0.14, creating a range of $0.16. Stellar price is currently at $0.18, which sits between the 0.236 level at $0.18 and the 0.382 level at $0.20. This position in the lower half of the Fibonacci structure suggests the pullback is shallow and there is considerable room above before price reaches the deeper retracement zones at 0.618 ($0.24) or 0.786 ($0.27). Breaking above the 0.382 level would be a minor bullish signal, but remaining below $0.20 keeps the bearish bias in play.

Score: 3 / 10 | Bearish

Support Levels: A staircase down from current price

Support sits at $0.17 (just one cent below current price), $0.16, and $0.15 appearing twice. The proximity of the first support level at $0.17 is both reassuring and restrictive: it's close enough to offer a safety net if price turns lower, but so close that any weakness could trigger rapid movement downward through multiple levels. The double support at $0.15 (the lower Bollinger Band) provides a stronger foundation, but reaching that level would represent a roughly 17 percent drop from here.

Score: 5.5 / 10 | Neutral

Resistance: Stacked and heavy overhead

Resistance sits at $0.18, $0.18, $0.19, and $0.20, creating a compressed supply zone that price must break through to gain upside. The double resistance at $0.18 (current price) means we are already trading at the first resistance barrier. Getting past the $0.20 zone would be necessary to confirm a sustained move higher, but the clustering of levels here suggests that selling pressure is likely to emerge with any upside attempt. This overhead resistance is the primary obstacle to any XLM price recovery.

Score: 3 / 10 | Bearish

Trendline: Price sitting on the descending line

The dominant trendline is descending, and Stellar price is currently trading right at this line at $0.18. This is a critical junction: remaining on or below the trendline confirms the downtrend is still in control, while a move above it would represent a potential break of the bearish structure. The trendline has been the gatekeeper of the downside move, and it is actively rejecting upside attempts. As long as price respects this line from above, the macro bias remains lower.

Score: 3 / 10 | Bearish

MACD: Momentum turning negative

The MACD line is at 0.002381 and the signal line is at 0.002801, with the histogram printing negative at -0.000421. This means the MACD line has just crossed below the signal line, a textbook bearish crossover that suggests upside momentum is weakening. While the values are very close to zero, the direction of the histogram is what matters here: it has turned negative, confirming that momentum is shifting from bullish to bearish. This is a warning sign for sellers, though it is early in the move.

Score: 4 / 10 | Bearish

On-Balance Volume: Distribution is taking over

On-balance volume is in a falling trend, which means that selling volume is outweighing buying volume over the recent period. This divergence between price and volume is a red flag: even though price is holding near support, there is no strong accumulation by buyers to back it up. Falling OBV typically precedes price weakness, and in this case it suggests that any bounce in Stellar XLM price may lack conviction. Without buying pressure reflected in volume, upside moves are vulnerable to being sold into.

Score: 3 / 10 | Bearish

Chart Patterns: Double bottom hints at reversal potential

A double bottom pattern has formed, which is traditionally a bullish reversal pattern. This pattern suggests that price has found support twice at the same level and is now in position to move higher. The measured target of a double bottom would extend upward by the height of the pattern, which could take Stellar price toward $0.22 to $0.24 if it plays out. However, for this pattern to be valid, price must break above the neckline, which in this case would be around $0.19 to $0.20. Until that break occurs, the pattern remains just a setup, not confirmed.

Score: 6.5 / 10 | Bullish

My Trade: Going neutral on XLM (waiting for confirmation)

I'm staying on the sidelines here because the cumulative score of 4.3 out of 10 tells me the market is genuinely undecided. Yes, the double bottom pattern is attractive and the Bollinger Bands give price room to work, but falling volume and that fresh MACD bearish crossover are warning signs I can't ignore. I'm going neutral, which means I'll either wait for price to break above $0.20 with conviction before going long, or I'll look for weakness below $0.16 before considering a short. The setup is too mixed right now, and the risk of being whipsawed is higher than the reward of guessing the next move.

My entry zone

$0.19 – $0.20 (above resistance) for long / $0.15 – $0.16 (below support) for short

My stop loss

$0.21 (if long, above upper BB) or $0.14 (if short, below lower BB)

My target 1

$0.22: Double bottom measured target

My target 2

$0.24: Fibonacci 0.618 level

My target 3

$0.27: Fibonacci 0.786 level

When I Would Exit

I would flip my thesis and go long if Stellar XLM price closes above $0.20 for two consecutive daily candles with volume confirmation, especially if it breaks above the descending trendline with authority. Conversely, my neutral stance becomes decisively bearish if price closes below $0.15, the lower Bollinger Band, which would signal that support has broken and new lows are likely. Either scenario would prove my current wait-and-see approach wrong and would force me to take a directional stance. Until I see one of these two confirmations, I'm staying patient.
