World Liberty Financial has launched its USD1 stablecoin natively on the Canton Network, bringing the dollar-pegged asset into an institutional blockchain environment focused on tokenized real-world assets.

The integration allows institutions to use USD1 for settlement across transactions involving tokenized assets, derivatives collateral, institutional lending, and asset issuance and redemptions.

USD1 Expands Into Institutional Settlement

Native issuance means USD1 can settle alongside tokenized assets within the same transaction while taking advantage of Canton’s privacy and permissioning features.

USD1 currently has a market capitalization of approximately $4.05 billion, making it the sixth-largest stablecoin, according to DeFiLlama data.

The stablecoin is issued by BitGo Bank & Trust, which manages its reserves and handles USD1 minting and redemptions. World Liberty Financial launched USD1 in March 2025, with the stablecoin backed by assets including short-term US Treasurys, government money market funds and dollar deposits.

Canton Targets Institutional Tokenization

The USD1 integration adds another stablecoin to Canton’s growing institutional blockchain ecosystem.

Canton describes its network as a public, permissionless blockchain designed for institutional finance. The network says it processes more than $9 trillion in tokenized assets each month, while more than $350 billion in onchain US Treasurys moves across the network daily.

The integration also follows Canton’s recent expansion into other institutional applications, including a planned system for distributing state-administered benefits across three US states beginning in 2027.

For USD1, the Canton launch provides another route into institutional settlement as demand for stablecoins and tokenized real-world assets continues to expand.
