Backpack is expanding its tokenized stock offering with Meta shares now available on Solana. The launch adds another major US-listed company to the platform’s growing range of blockchain-based securities.
Meta Platforms shares now circulate on Solana in a version issued by Backpack, the crypto exchange. Each token is designed to be redeemed 1:1 for the real share. There are limits: redemption runs only through Backpack, and the product is closed to anyone in the US, UK, UAE or Japan.
A public tracker of Solana tokenized stocks lists Backpack as one of three issuers of META on Solana, alongside xStocks and Ondo. The launch date is not yet confirmed. A report this week credits a project called Sunrise with bringing Backpack's META to Solana, but no first-hand confirmation of that role or a start date from Backpack or Sunrise was available.
How Backpack Turns a Share Into a Token
Backpack's support documentation describes two ways to hold an eligible stock. You can keep it as a traditional holding on Backpack, which is a security entitlement governed by New York law (UCC Article 8). Or you can convert it into a token on Solana.
The token version is self-custodied. It trades 24/7, moves from wallet to wallet and works with DeFi apps. Backpack says each token is redeemable 1:1 for the real underlying security.
Dividends are not paid out in cash. They are reinvested automatically as additional tokenized shares. Other corporate actions show up as proportional changes to your token balance.
The support pages read for this story do not name the broker or custodian holding the underlying shares.
Redemption Stays Inside Backpack
This is the detail that matters most if you plan to hold the token. Eligible tokens can be redeemed back into traditional holdings on Backpack. Transfers from Backpack to another broker are not currently supported.
In practice, the 1:1 link to a real Meta share runs through one company. You can move the token freely on-chain, but turning it back into a share you can take to another brokerage is not an option for now.
Backpack also separates owning a stock from betting on it. Buying a stock on Backpack gives you a real security entitlement. Its Stock Perpetuals are derivative contracts that do not provide ownership of the underlying stock.
Who Can Access Backpack's Stock Tokens
Backpack Securities is not available in the United States, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates or Japan. It is also not offered on Backpack EU.
Elsewhere, you need an eligible account and must accept a one-time agreement before your first trade. The same tracker notes that most tokenized stocks, across issuers, are closed to US persons.
Why Is Backpack’s BP Token Rising?
Backpack’s BP token was up 4.7% over 24 hours as per Coingecko. There are several possible reasons traders may pay attention to Backpack during the launch.

First, adding Meta strengthens Backpack’s tokenized-stock offering. A wider selection of familiar companies could help attract users interested in accessing traditional financial assets through blockchain infrastructure.
Second, the launch highlights Backpack’s broader strategy of connecting brokerage services, crypto trading, and onchain markets. If these products attract more users, they could increase interest in the platform as a whole. That potential benefit does not automatically translate into higher demand for BP.
Third, traders may be reacting to the announcement itself or to broader market conditions. Without evidence from trading flows or a clear statement from market participants, it is not possible to isolate the Meta launch as the cause of the price move.
A Crowded Shelf for Tokenized Stocks on Solana
Backpack's META joins versions from xStocks and Ondo, and follows Securitize's batch of tokenized US stocks on Solana. What separates issuers is less the ticker than the exit: who redeems the token, in which countries, and where the share can go afterwards.
Can Tokenized Stocks Drive Backpack’s Next Growth Phase?
Backpack’s approach combines traditional securities infrastructure with onchain distribution. Tokenization can make certain assets accessible through blockchain wallets and allow them to interact with decentralized finance applications, subject to the product’s terms and restrictions.
The Meta launch is another step in that direction. But the longer-term significance will depend on whether users actively trade the tokens, whether liquidity remains healthy, and whether redemption and brokerage connections become more flexible.
For BP holders, the key distinction is between growth in Backpack’s product offering and demand for the BP token itself. A successful product launch may improve the platform’s visibility, but token performance will also depend on market conditions and the relationship between platform adoption and the token’s utility.
For now, Backpack has added another major stock to its Solana-based tokenized securities lineup, while BP is showing a short-term gain in the supplied market snapshot. The next signals to watch are trading volume in the META token, user adoption, and further developments in Backpack’s securities infrastructure.
