Helium (HNT) price is rising sharply as traders react to a new network deployment in Texas and a wave of short liquidations. HNT is currently trading near $0.858, up 31.67% over the past 24 hours, according to the latest data provided for this update.

The move follows an explosive weekend rally that pushed HNT close to $0.99. While the Celina, Texas deployment provided the initial bullish catalyst, derivatives positioning appears to have played the bigger role in accelerating the move.

On August 28, Celina, Texas announced a live Helium deployment that converted existing public Wi-Fi infrastructure into carrier-grade coverage. The network is already carrying around 100 GB of data per day, with more locations expected to come online this fall.

Helium says the deployment allows phones to connect automatically when users enter covered areas, without requiring an app or additional setup. The project also says its network now spans more than 42,000 U.S. locations and serves more than 2.5 million people daily.

The news strengthened the fundamental case for HNT by showing another example of Helium being used for real-world connectivity rather than purely speculative crypto activity.

Short Squeeze Becomes the Bigger Catalyst

The network news helped attract buyers, but derivatives appear to have amplified the move.
