Will the “One Big Beautiful Bill” Ignite Altcoin Season?
The U.S. Congress has just sent the landmark “One Big Beautiful Bill” to President Trump’s desk, and he could sign it into law as soon as today, July 4th.

This sweeping legislation promises the largest middle-class tax cut in American history. It also includes major investments in border security and a renewed focus on economic growth.
While One Big Beautiful Bill doesn’t mention crypto directly, its ripple effects could still be felt. It may reshape the digital asset landscape in the months ahead.
How the Bill Could Boost Crypto Markets
The bill’s centerpiece is a historic tax cut for working Americans, with some families projected to see up to $10,000 more in annual take-home pay. More disposable income means more capital that could flow into risk assets—including cryptocurrencies. Past trends show that when households and small businesses have extra cash, a portion often finds its way into Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other digital assets.
Another key point is the bill’s massive infrastructure and defense spending, which injects fresh liquidity into the financial system. When institutions have more cash on hand, they tend to diversify their holdings, and crypto is increasingly part of that mix. This effect is already visible: after the bill’s passage, Bitcoin gained 2%, reflecting renewed investor optimism.
However, the bill does not provide direct tax relief for crypto holders. Capital gains taxes remain in place. So, complex rules still apply to everything from small payments to DeFi and NFT transactions. While the industry had hoped for friendlier regulations, the current environment still favors speculation and investment. Especially as concerns about the U.S. dollar’s long-term value persist. The narrative of Bitcoin as “sound money” only grows stronger as government spending rises.
Will This Trigger an Altcoin Season?
Crypto investors are now asking: is an altcoin season next? Historically, altcoin seasons follow major Bitcoin rallies, as traders rotate profits into smaller, more volatile coins seeking higher returns. Bitcoin has been holding above $106,000, and experts suggest that if momentum continues, we could see a shift as early as Q3 2025.
Yet, this cycle has been different. Institutional investors are still favoring Bitcoin for its perceived safety, and the lack of crypto-specific tax breaks in the new law means altcoins haven’t seen the explosive growth some expected.
The Altcoin Season Index, a key metric for tracking these trends, hasn’t yet crossed the threshold that typically signals a true altcoin boom. Still, if Bitcoin’s dominance starts to wane and retail investors deploy their extra income into the market, a new altcoin wave could be on the horizon.
