XRP Ledger Sees 11,432 New Accounts in a Day as XRP Hits $1.60

XRP Ledger logged 11,432 new accounts on September 24, more than triple its 30-day average. Here is what the chart does and does not say.

XRP Ledger logged 11,432 new accounts on September 24, 2026, more than triple its 30-day average of roughly 2,700 to 3,000 a day, per XRPScan data cited. The same day, XRP climbed from $1.40 to $1.60 on about $7.4 billion in trading volume.

If you hold XRP, that is the kind of number you want to see heading into a price breakout. It is also exactly the kind of number you should slow down on before celebrating.

What "11,432 new accounts" actually counts

On XRPL, an address is not an account until it receives enough XRP to meet the reserve requirement and an AccountRoot entry is written to the ledger. Anything below that threshold shows up as an address, not as an account in the chart traders watch.

So 11,432 new accounts means 11,432 addresses that day crossed the funding line and got persisted on-chain. That part is verifiable on-chain. It does not tell you who funded them, or why.

Why the same chart can mean very different things

Exchange batch funding, custody migrations, airdrop farming and speculative wallet splitting can all produce a spike that looks exactly like organic growth. The original piece flags this explicitly, and a few data points sit alongside that warning:

  • Santiment separately counted 3,647 new wallets around the $1.60 move, plus 1,917 transactions above $100,000 in the same window. That combination suggests at least some of the new accounts are linked to larger players, not just retail.
  • A prior Bitquery analysis found that 793 accounts were responsible for about 93.2% of XRPL transactions on the network at that time. Ripple co-founder David Schwartz pushed back on the figure but did not fully dispute it. Concentration of that scale means a small number of operators can move the account-creation chart by a lot.
  • CME leveraged funds cut 46.3 million XRP in net shorts on the day, a sharp shift in institutional positioning that ran in parallel with the price move.

If you read the 11,432 number next to those three, the picture is mixed: real wallet formation, real whale activity, and a market that was already leaning bullish before the chart printed.

The catalysts the chart does not yet capture

Three things land in the next two weeks that could each independently create accounts at this scale, and each is worth knowing the date for:

  • Batch V1.1, which enables atomic settlement, is approaching its activation window around September 29.
  • PermissionDelegationV1_1 follows around October 5. Both make multi-account treasury management and compliance workflows easier for institutions.
  • Native lending proposals XLS-65 and XLS-66 are in validator voting as part of the wider XRP Ledger 3.4.0 release, which would let participants lend directly on-chain.

If institutions are spinning up wallets to be ready for any of those, the September 24 spike is the rehearsal, not the show.

ETF money is real, but it does not require holders

XRP ETF inflows have already crossed $1.7 billion. That figure was not cross-checked against an issuer filing for this piece. 21Shares has separately flagged that institutions can use XRPL rails without holding the token, which is worth keeping in mind when ETF flows are used as proof of demand for new accounts.

There is also a domestic driver Binance added: an $800,000 XRP rewards program for RLUSD holders that launched on September 25. Reward campaigns are a reliable way to manufacture fresh wallets.

What to watch from here

These accounts either stay funded and start interacting with lending, RLUSD or Batch once those features go live, or they quietly go dormant by mid-October. That is the question that turns today's chart from a headline into a trend.

Until then, treat the 11,432 number as a real on-chain event, a real one-day jump, and a useful prompt to ask who is behind it.
