AAVE jumped 11.5% as activity around Aave V4’s new stock-backed lending markets accelerated and a large whale accumulated $6.3 million worth of AAVE.

The move came as Aave’s V4 market for tokenized stocks on Base crossed $9 million in deposits. At the same time, Aave reached more than $1.1 trillion in cumulative loan volume, giving traders several fresh signals of growing activity across the lending protocol.

The latest rally follows a broader expansion of Aave V4, which is moving beyond traditional crypto collateral and into tokenized equities and other real-world assets.

Aave Price Jumps October 2

Aave V4 stock-backed lending passes $9M

Aave V4’s Equities Hub on Base has quickly attracted deposits after launching with Coinbase’s tokenized U.S. stocks.

The market allows eligible users outside the United States to deposit seven tokenized equities - Apple, Amazon, Alphabet, Meta, Microsoft, Nvidia and Tesla - as collateral and borrow USDC against them. The stocks are collateral-only at launch, meaning users cannot borrow the tokenized equities themselves.

The market had crossed $9 million in deposits by September 30, according to Aave-related updates. That is still a small amount compared with Aave’s overall lending activity, but it gives an early indication that users are testing the new stock-backed credit model.

Aave Labs said V4 surpassed $1 billion in total deposits during September, alongside $310 million in active loans. The protocol also expanded V4 to Arc and Base during the month.

The Base launch is particularly important because it gives tokenized stocks a direct role in DeFi lending rather than limiting them to trading or simple holding.

A $6.3M whale purchase adds to AAVE demand

A large wallet also bought into AAVE as the token rallied.

On October 1, wallet 0xe271 acquired 39,018 AAVE worth approximately $6.3 million from Kraken, according to onchain tracking data. A separate report said the wallet had transferred about $5.97 million in USDC to Kraken before withdrawing the AAVE.

The transaction does not establish why the whale bought AAVE, but its size adds another notable demand signal during the price move.

Another pair of wallets also converted about $4.26 million worth of WBTC into 25,502 AAVE on September 30, according to Lookonchain.

Together, the transactions show that large holders were actively accumulating AAVE around the same period as the V4 growth headlines.

Aave crosses $1.1T in cumulative loans

Aave has also reached a major usage milestone.

The protocol has processed more than $1.1 trillion in cumulative loan volume, according to founder Stani Kulechov. The figure represents the total value of loans processed by Aave over time rather than the amount currently outstanding.

Current Aave data shows roughly $34 billion in assets supplied and $13.3 billion borrowed across the protocol. Supply has increased about 9% over the past 30 days, while borrowed assets have risen roughly 5%.

That activity puts the latest V4 expansion into perspective. The $9 million stock-backed market is still small relative to Aave’s overall lending base, but it represents a new category of collateral that could expand the protocol’s addressable market if adoption continues.

Tokenized stocks are becoming part of Aave’s lending strategy

Aave has been positioning V4 as more than an upgrade for crypto-native lending.

In June, Aave Labs outlined a broader plan for securities-backed lending, repo and securities lending using tokenized assets. The protocol argued that tokenized securities could allow users to borrow stablecoins without selling their underlying assets.

The Coinbase stock integration is the first concrete example of that strategy on Base.

The seven tokenized stocks are issued by Coinbase Onchain SPV Ltd., with the underlying shares held in segregated custody accounts. Chainlink provides the onchain price feeds used by the Aave market.

The initial market also has limits. Aave's risk parameters include separate collateral factors for each stock, while supply and borrow caps restrict how much liquidity can enter the system. More stocks and GHO could be added later, subject to governance and risk review.

This expansion follows Aave’s earlier push into tokenized assets. Altcoin Buzz previously reported that Aave’s supplied assets had climbed above $31 billion as the protocol prepared to bring Coinbase’s tokenized stocks to V4.

What is driving the AAVE move?

The latest AAVE rally appears to be supported by several Aave-specific developments rather than a single confirmed catalyst.

The strongest signals are the rapid early deposits in V4’s stock-backed lending market, the $6.3 million whale purchase and Aave’s $1.1 trillion cumulative loan milestone. V4 also crossed $1 billion in deposits during September, showing that the new version is gaining traction across multiple deployments.

There is also a separate tokenomics narrative developing around AAVE. Kulechov said the team is considering a token-burn mechanism as part of a future Aavenomics 3.0, although there is currently no formal proposal, vote, burn amount or launch date.

That means the recent price action is happening alongside both protocol growth and renewed attention on AAVE’s token economics.

For now, the V4 stock-backed market remains an early-stage experiment. The key question is whether the initial $9 million in deposits can grow into a meaningful lending market as more tokenized assets are added.
