On June 4, Binance took a firm stand against unfair play in its Alpha Points program
Bots—automated tools or scripts—are often used in trading and blockchain activities to gain an edge. But in a program built to reward genuine community engagement and participation, such shortcuts chip away at trust. Binance made it clear: using bots is a violation, and accounts caught breaking the rules risk losing their Alpha Points or facing additional restrictions.
The Alpha Points program is part of Binance’s effort to deepen user engagement by rewarding participants for early involvement in projects or events. Think of it like getting VIP tickets for being the first to show up at a concert. But if others start sneaking in through the back door using bots, the value of those tickets drops for everyone.
According to Binance, bot users are undermining the program’s fairness. This isn’t just a technical issue—it’s a trust issue. When users feel the system is being gamed, participation drops. And in a fast-moving space like Web3, where user loyalty is gold, that can be a serious problem.
A similar issue happened recently with airdrops, a popular way for crypto projects to distribute free tokens. In May, several new token launches on Ethereum Layer 2 networks saw massive bot activity. One project, zkSync, reported that over 30 percent of its airdrop claims came from suspicious accounts. These incidents make clear that bot abuse is a growing trend that platforms must take seriously.
Binance is the first platform to list Lagrange (LA), with trading set to begin on June 4th, 2025, at 12:00 UTC. To celebrate the launch, eligible users holding at least 215 Binance Alpha Points can claim an airdrop of 160 LA tokens through the Alpha Events page once trading goes live.
Claiming the airdrop will deduct 15 Alpha Points, and users must confirm their claim within 24 hours. If not confirmed in time, the airdrop will be considered forfeited.
