Microsoft-Backed Space and Time Just Launched a No-Code App Builder

Microsoft's bet on Space and Time is starting to pay off with the launch of Dreamspace, a no code app builder

Microsoft is not betting on crypto lightly. M12, Microsoft’s venture fund, led a $20 million investment in Space and Time back in 2022. Now that bet is paying off in a direction nobody saw coming. Space and Time just launched Dreamspace, a no-code AI app builder that lets anyone generate and deploy a fully functional onchain app without writing a single line of code. That’s a big deal. Let’s talk about why.

What Is Dreamspace?

Dreamspace was built using Microsoft’s Azure AI Foundry and Azure OpenAI, with front ends hosted on Azure and smart contracts deployable to any EVM-compatible blockchain. You describe what you want to build. The platform generates a working app, including smart contract logic, automatically. No developers required.

Every smart contract Dreamspace generates is fully auditable. Creators and their users can see exactly how the app behaves onchain. No black boxes.

The data layer underneath runs on Space and Time’s verifiable infrastructure. The same infrastructure trusted by financial applications across the industry. So the apps you build inherit that security from day one.

Now, that’s not the whole story.

Base Brings Dreamspace to Life

Dreamspace defaults to Base, Coinbase’s layer-2 network. Space and Time cited transactions costing less than one cent and confirmations in under a second.

That matters for creators trying to build real businesses. Low fees and fast finality mean you’re not burning your users’ money on gas every time they interact with your app. Eric Brown, Head of AI Developer Relations at Base, put it plainly: the goal is to make starting an onchain business as simple as having an idea worth building.

That’s a clean way to describe it.

The Numbers From Beta

Per the Space and Time team, more than 34,000 apps were created by early users during the beta period before today’s public launch.

Here’s the kicker. Per the Space and Time team, schools in Indonesia used Dreamspace to build new AI labs and curricula, with an initiative aimed at reaching over 140,000 students. This isn’t a tool sitting on a shelf. People are already using it.

Why the Microsoft Angle Matters

Microsoft doesn’t make $20 million bets without a thesis. Michael Stewart, Managing Partner at M12, said Space and Time spent years building infrastructure capable of supporting the most demanding financial applications in AI and blockchain. Dreamspace puts that foundation to work for a completely different kind of builder.

Think about what that means. Space and Time started as infrastructure for onchain finance. Tokenized assets, stablecoins, institutional DeFi. Serious, high-stakes applications. Now they’re opening the same stack to anyone with a browser and an idea.

Better infrastructure, broader access. That’s the bet.

What to Watch

Dreamspace is live now at dream.space. The public launch follows a beta that already proved there’s demand. The Microsoft and Base partnerships give it credibility at the institutional and developer layer simultaneously. The question worth asking is whether no-code onchain tooling finally gets mainstream traction, or whether it stays a niche builder toy. With 34,000 apps created before the public launch, it’s off to a stronger start than most.

This one is worth watching.
