Payments are the heart of blockchain adoption. Polygon has quietly become a leader in stablecoin usage, handling $3.7 billion in peer-to-peer transactions in April 2025 alone. That’s an 85% jump in six months. With 2.3 million wallets sending USDC as of April, Polygon now ranks number one for USDC users.
Much of this growth stems from real use. Stripe, Nexo, Reliance Jio, and BlindPay are just a few firms building payment rails on Polygon. Polymarket, the prediction app recently integrated with X (formerly Twitter), has seen over $14 billion in volume through Polygon, demonstrating the platform’s ability to handle real, large-scale financial activity.
The upcoming Bhilai Upgrade is set to take this even further. It introduces smoother gas fees, shorter block times, and improved user experience. For stablecoins, this means nearly instant payments with little cost and no risk of rollbacks. All of this runs on POL, the network’s upgraded token, which supports staking and governance.
Polygon is also becoming a hub for tokenized assets. Institutions like BlackRock, JPMorgan, and Apollo have already launched financial products on the network, from credit funds to collectible NFTs. In the first quarter of 2025, Polygon ranked fifth among blockchains by RWA value, with over $271 million in assets onchain.

The next milestones will supercharge this growth. By late 2025, Polygon plans to hit 5,000 TPS and eliminate reorgs—blockchain rewrites that cause confirmation delays. With its Agglayer integration, Polygon will also connect to other chains, offering liquidity and asset mobility at scale. The long-term vision?
