Prime Machin Case Study for Sui

Sui NFTs are on a different level. They have features that no other NFTs on other chains have. For example, Sui NFTs allow you to hold other assets, including other NFTs. This sets them apart from NFTs on all other chains. One NFT collection on Sui stands out. They made their collection with all these Sui features in mind. That’s Prime Machin.

So, we’re going to take a closer look at Prime Machin and find out what they can do.

Prime Machin and Studio Mirai

Prime Machin is part of the Studio Mirai family. They are building Web3 apps that feel like Web2 apps. They see the onboarding process into Web3 differently. Studio Mirai doesn’t want to incentivize you to onboard. Instead, they believe that if their product is worthwhile to you, you will want to use it. So, they want to build Web2 apps with Web3 tech.

They don’t want to attract users who only come in for a potential high yield and move on afterward. Their interest is to onboard people who align with their ideas and interests. So, their philosophy for building NFT collections on Sui is two-fold.

• It allows them to do research and development on all aspects of Sui. Prime Machin is a prime example of this.
• To build a strong core group of people that see the future the same as the team. Respecting and helping each other out are core ideas of this. Now they can leverage this group of people. This allows them to bootstrap the mainstream consumer apps they are building.
  

What Is Prime Machin?

Prime Machin is a blue chip NFT collection on Sui. However, they’re not your average Sui NFT collection. In contrast, this collection makes full use of all the features that Sui and its NFTs offer. See our recent article on Sui NFTs to see what sets them apart.

Their floor price also keeps going up. You can check Tradeport. In April, it was around 200 $SUI, now, in July, it’s around 300 $SUI. With the uptrend in the market, that’s an interesting perspective. Especially since the $SUI token is currently gaining strength again.

The co-founders, Brian and Ben, who are brothers, find their inspiration in Japan. The collection is, for example, in manga style. To showcase some of Sui’s abilities, you can color the NFTs. The original NFT is in black and white. Now, there are 2 levels of coloring.

1. A predefined Level 1. They base this on whatever color is already specified in the metadata. 
2. Level 2 is custom. Details on this will be available soon.

Once you color the NFT, the original b/w NFT gets removed and destroyed. In turn, this gives a storage rebate of $SUI. It’s a great explanation of how the storage rebate on Sui works.

NFT Standards

So, Sui NFTs don’t have NFT standards. Like, Ethereum has ERC-721 and ERC-1155 NFT standards. These map to keys and values in contracts. So, buying such an NFT is nothing more than a map of your address to a number. This number is the token ID you bought, which is a file, stored off-chain. So, that points to the image and you only buy a number. You can prove and verify this on-chain.

What Makes Prime Machin Stand Out?

There are quite a few features that make Prime Machin stand out. These features also highlight how Prime Machin uses all the available Sui options. So, let’s take a look at that.

• It’s the first collection in the world to store hi-res 4K artwork. They are structured and verified on-chain objects. That’s very different from small-sized art like inscriptions. These are 8-16 Bits. However, Prime Machin is hand-drawn raster art and file sizes range from 100 KB to 1.2 MB. So, the team designed a custom upload system.
• The collection integrated subdomains from the Sui Name Service. Prime Machin is the first collection in the world to have this.
• The PFPs are unique characters that can own other digital assets. For example, tokens, other NFTs, or objects. They support all Kiosk-protected assets. So, a Prime Machin can own another Prime Machin. Once more, it is the first NFT collection in the world to have this feature.
• Fully open-sourced smart contracts on Sui.
• Coloring of the NFTs, as explained earlier.

Sui Name Service Subnames

The team secured the PrimeMachin dot Sui name on Sui Name Service. SuiNS also allows for subnames. See our article on Sui Name Service. This means that every Prime Machin has a SuiNS subname. For example, if your NFT has the number #2686, then you can send assets to 2628@primemachin.

Your Prime Machin Can Hold Other Digital Assets

Due to the Object features on Sui, each Sui NFT can hold other objects. For example, the Prime Machin had already distributed their native $KOTO token to each NFT. Recently, there was also an airdrop to all Prime Machin NFTs. But the NFTs can also hold the $SUI token or other digital assets. This shows how the Studio Mirai team takes full advantage of all the features that Sui gives them. Including the dynamic NFT aspect, in which NFT can change appearance. 

This also forces you to keep track of what Studio Mirai is doing. They can airdrop items to listed NFTs. So, if you list a Prime Machin for 300 $SUI but the airdrops it holds are worth more, you can buy it for 300 $SUI. See the picture below.
