Samsung Wallet to Add USDC on Solana for US Transfers in October

Samsung Wallet and Samsung Pay will support USDC on Solana, with US users able to send cross-border payments from the last week of October 2026.

Samsung Wallet and Samsung Pay will support stablecoins on Solana, the Solana Foundation said on Oct. 7, 2026. US users will be able to send money across borders in USDC from the last week of October 2026.

At launch the feature will sit across 82 million US Galaxy devices. Samsung defines that figure as the number of Galaxy devices in the country compatible with Samsung Wallet, not a count of users.

USDC is the only stablecoin named as supported at launch. The send flow is a remittance product first. It is built into Samsung Wallet rather than beside it. The transfer leaves from the same interface users already open for cards, boarding passes and IDs. Integrated fiat on-ramps and off-ramps convert to and from local currency.

What a Galaxy User Can Actually Do

Users hold and send stablecoins directly in Samsung Wallet, with no separate crypto app and no private keys to manage. When a user selects "Buy Stablecoin" in Samsung Wallet, USDC appears as the default dollar stablecoin.

Bastion keeps the ledger for each user's balance and executes the USDC transfers on blockchain networks. Transfers can only be initiated from a registered device. Each request needs the user's biometric authentication, and Bastion verifies the device signature.

For bank payouts, users can send money from Samsung Wallet to a bank account in more than 60 countries. Payouts arrive in local currency. Bastion converts the USDC and routes each payout through its network of local regulated partners.

Eligibility is narrower than the device count suggests. It requires US residents 18 or older with a Samsung Account. The device must be a Galaxy compatible with Samsung Wallet and running Android 13 or higher. Account registration, identity verification and biometric setup must be completed first.

Two Transfer Paths, Two Fee Treatments

A wallet-to-wallet send works differently from a bank payout. Eligible users can send USDC to compatible crypto wallets internationally in seconds. Samsung charges no transfer fee, though network conditions and any separate recipient fees still apply.

Bank transfers do carry fees. They vary by destination country and amount, and are shown in the app with an estimated delivery time before the sender confirms. Samsung has not published a complete list of supported destination countries or detailed bank transfer fees. The consumer announcement does not include a full country schedule.

Bastion Carries the Regulated Layers, Coinbase Carries the USDC

Bastion provides regulated custody, stablecoin account operations and compliance infrastructure for the Samsung Wallet feature. It verifies and screens the identity of each user, and screens blockchain addresses. It also monitors transactions for fraud, money laundering and sanctions exposure.

Coinbase is Bastion's official USDC sub-custodian for Samsung Wallet via Coinbase Prime Vault. USDC is the first supported stablecoin, with Solana and Sui providing blockchain network support. Bastion is backed by Andreessen Horowitz and Coinbase Ventures, among others, and issues no stablecoin of its own.

Bastion received conditional approval from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency for a national trust bank charter. Its operating entity, Bastion Platforms US, LLC, is a FinCEN-registered money services business with state money transmitter licences.

Samsung states that it is not a bank, money transmitter or digital asset custodian and does not hold customer funds. Stablecoin accounts, custody and money movement come from regulated partners.

Where Solana's Stablecoin Base Stands

USDC is the largest stablecoin on Solana by market cap at $6.934 billion, ahead of USDT at $2.913 billion, per DefiLlama's Solana stablecoin page. The Solana Foundation says stablecoin supply on Solana is up nearly 20% year over year. It also says the network processed more than $5.25 trillion in stablecoin volume in 2026 alone. Both are Foundation figures carried in its own release, not independently verified on-chain here.

The Foundation also names PayPal and Western Union as major enterprises already using Solana for stablecoin activity. Its president, Lily Liu, framed the Samsung deal around reach rather than throughput.

Samsung's decision to work with Solana puts digital dollars into everyday life through one of the world's most trusted technology brands.

Bastion CEO Nassim Eddequiouaq made the same point from the infrastructure side. Most Samsung users, he said, "will never think about custody, compliance, blockchains, or cross-border remittance rails, and that's exactly the point."

What Is Not Settled

The announcement leaves three things open. Each would change how the launch reads on the ground.

  • Samsung has not published a complete destination country list or detailed bank transfer fees.
  • No date has been given for paying with stablecoins online or by tapping a Galaxy device in store. Bastion describes both as future capabilities, not part of the October launch.
  • Which specific Solana wallets or exchanges can receive USDC from the feature is not published.

Samsung said the October rollout follows the establishment of a US regulatory framework for stablecoins. It has not announced plans to issue its own stablecoin through Samsung Wallet. Samsung calls the launch the next chapter of its collaboration with Coinbase. Earlier steps in that collaboration include Samsung Pay as a payment option in the Coinbase app and Coinbase One benefits for eligible users through Samsung Wallet.

The deadline reads as a product date, not a marketing date. Either the last week of October 2026 ships for eligible US Galaxy devices, or the story becomes about the delay. Beyond that, the country list and the fee schedule are the two disclosures that matter. They would tell a reader how much of the 60-plus market is live on day one versus promised.
