Standard Chartered-Backed Anchorpoint Plans HKDAP on Solana

Anchorpoint Financial, the Hong Kong stablecoin issuer owned by Standard Chartered's Hong Kong bank, plans to bring its Hong Kong dollar stablecoin HKDAP to Solana. The company announced a strategic collaboration with Solana Foundation on 30 October. It is Anchorpoint's first collaboration with a public blockchain foundation.
For anyone holding SOL or using stablecoins on Solana, nothing changes yet. Anchorpoint's announcement says the company "plans to support the native minting and redemption of HKDAP on the Solana blockchain." That is a plan, not a launch. No launch date has been confirmed, and no Solana mint address for HKDAP has been confirmed either. Until Anchorpoint publishes one, a token on Solana using the HKDAP name cannot be checked against an official address.
What Native HKDAP on Solana Would Change
Native minting means the issuer creates the tokens directly on Solana. Redemption means swapping them back with the issuer. Anchorpoint says this would come with "near-instant settlement speed."
The release names the uses it is aiming at: "retail, payment, tokenised RWA trading and other high-volume use cases." It also says the collaboration "aims to support planned retail access," a phrase that again points to something still ahead.
The RWA part explains why Solana was picked. RWAs, or real-world assets, are traditional assets such as funds or bonds held as tokens on a blockchain. According to the release, Solana supports approximately $4.9 billion of tokenised real-world assets and more than 835,000 RWA holders. A stablecoin pegged to the Hong Kong dollar would give those markets a local-currency way to settle trades.
A Bank Subsidiary With One of Hong Kong's First Licences
Anchorpoint is a subsidiary of Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Limited. It was set up in February 2025 as a joint venture of that bank, the telecoms group HKT and Animoca Brands.
In April 2026 the Hong Kong Monetary Authority granted it a stablecoin issuer licence, number FRS01, under the Stablecoins Ordinance. The release describes Anchorpoint as "one of the first entities" to receive such a licence.
Solana Foundation will also join Anchorpoint's Tokenised Money Adoption Programme (TAP) as a strategic partner. The accounting firm PwC joined the programme shortly before. The release adds that Solana was inducted into Hong Kong's OASES programme and plans to set up a local presence in the city, the latest sign of Solana's push into Hong Kong after the city lined up a second spot Solana ETF.
Anchorpoint chief executive Dominic Maffei framed the move as part of a multi-chain plan: "We are building towards an open network designed to connect ecosystems, not fragment them."
Lu Yin, Solana Foundation's head of APAC, said in the same release that "HKDAP on Solana has the potential to make Hong Kong Dollar-denominated digital value more accessible and useful across a wider range of real-world use cases." That quote comes from Anchorpoint's release; the foundation's own channels have not yet been checked for a statement on the deal.
The Details Still Missing
The announcement sets a direction, but several things a user would need are not confirmed:
- a launch date for HKDAP on Solana
- an official Solana mint address for the token
- a figure for how much HKDAP is in circulation today
The next real step is Anchorpoint publishing a Solana mint address and opening minting. Until then, HKDAP on Solana is a licensed issuer's stated plan, backed by a bank, with no timetable attached.
