Onchain Prediction Market Trueo, Migrates to Ethereum mainnet, draws Vitalik's endorsement

Trueo will move its primary prediction-market deployment from Coinbase-incubated Base to the Ethereum mainnet, drawing a public welcome from Vitalik Buterin on X the same day.

The protocol announced the migration on Sept. 22, citing the Layer 1 network's "highest integration potential and product upside" as the reason for the move. Trueo first launched on Base in March 2025, framing the L2 as a "great sandbox" while Ethereum mainnet gas fees remained elevated.

Why mainnet and why now

Trueo's long-term vision is a platform that is "widely adopted, broadly integrated, fully permissionless, mostly immutable, and highly credible." Ethereum mainnet is the best fit for that combination of properties, the protocol said.

Vitalik Buterin, writing on X on the same day, framed the entry as competition for incumbents. "Glad to see that Ethereum L1 will have a new strong prediction market contender that is dedicated to decentralization, and being ethical and not corposlop, and to actually trying to do interesting and meaningful things with this class of economic primitive," he wrote, per The Block's reporting of the post.

Where Trueo draws the line against Polymarket

Trueo's announcement pointed to "due process in dispute resolution" as severely lacking across prediction markets, despite five years of growth. The Block's reporting on the migration referenced a July lawsuit by two traders who held "Yes" shares over Polymarket's resolution of a market on whether Strategy would sell any bitcoin by May 31. Polymarket resolved the market as "No" after Strategy's filing came out on June 1, although Strategy had confirmed selling 32 BTC between May 26 and 31. Plaintiffs claimed Polymarket altered the market's terms post-resolution.

Trueo said its oracle is designed to process evidence from "virtually any legitimate data source" to produce outcomes that are fair and accurate. The protocol's stated mission is to build prediction markets that hold up when the outcome is contentious and the stakes are high.

What changes for users and the TRUE token

Trueo has assured users there will be no interruption to app operations before or during the migration, and the development roadmap is unchanged. The protocol asked users not to open new Base markets that expire after Jan. 31, 2027, and to list longer-dated markets on Ethereum once the mainnet instance is live. Markets expiring before January are unaffected; existing Base markets that settle after the migration will remain accessible through the official app.

The TRUE token will remain the protocol's native token, with holders able to migrate tokens to Ethereum alongside the application. The token migration window is open indefinitely. Post-migration priorities are attracting liquidity on key market categories and shipping the next generation of the oracle.
