Donald Trump's memecoin project is making waves again with a new airdrop for buyers of Trump-branded products
The number of items bought does not affect the amount of tokens received. The $TRUMP tokens are valued at around $50, based on the current trading price of $16.32.
The $TRUMP airdrop is being facilitated by the blockchain platform Crossmint, and eligible users have until March 1 to claim their tokens. While the offer might sound like free money, it’s part of a broader push to keep the TRUMP token in the spotlight.
Trump launched his memecoin ahead of his January 20 inauguration as the 47th U.S. President. It quickly skyrocketed to $67 and even broke into the top 20 cryptocurrencies. However, the TRUMP token has since cooled down, ranking 42nd by market capitalization.
This isn’t Trump’s first foray into the crypto space. In late 2022, he launched an NFT collection featuring 45,000 Polygon-based assets, selling for $99 each. His NFT ventures have been quite the cash cow, raking in $7 million, according to an August 2024 financial disclosure.
Unlike some giveaways that scale based on spending, this airdrop is a flat deal—three TRUMP tokens per buyer, no matter how much they spent. That means someone who bought a single Trump fragrance gets the same reward as someone who loaded up on watches and sneakers.
For Trump supporters and crypto enthusiasts alike, this is another way to stay engaged with the former president’s brand. For others, it’s a gamble on the token’s future value. Either way, Trump is doubling down on digital assets.
