USDC on Sui Grew 9.5% in a Week, Stablecoin Market Cap Grows by $32.2 Million

USDC on Sui rose 9.48% in seven days to $344.98 million while Sui Dollar and USDT slipped, DefiLlama data shows. No 7-day total for Sui is published.

USDC on Sui rose 9.48% to $344.98 million, the biggest gain on the chain. Sui Dollar and USDT, the tokens ranked behind it, both shrank. The figures come from DefiLlama's Sui stablecoin page.

Sui’s stablecoin market is expanding, with the network adding approximately $32.2 million in stablecoin market capitalization over the latest seven-day period, according to data shared by RWA Foundation through Token Terminal.

The increase points to growing dollar-pegged asset supply on Sui. Stablecoins can support trading, lending, payments, and other decentralized finance (DeFi) activities without exposing users to the same price swings as volatile cryptocurrencies.

The development could strengthen Sui’s on-chain financial ecosystem if the additional supply translates into sustained usage. However, an increase in stablecoin market capitalization does not automatically mean that the same amount of new money flowed directly into the network.

Two things stand out. USDC is more than four times the size of the next stablecoin on the chain. The week's growth sits there. Ethena's eSui Dollar is flat over seven days but down 5.53% over 30, so its slide predates this week.

Sui’s Stablecoin Market Continues to Expand

Stablecoins are cryptocurrencies designed to maintain a relatively stable value, usually by tracking a currency such as the US dollar. They give crypto users a way to hold dollar-denominated value and move it across blockchain applications.

According to the RWA Foundation data cited in the report, Sui added around $32.2 million to its stablecoin market capitalization over seven days.

DeFiLlama’s Sui dashboard also showed a stablecoin market capitalization of approximately $502.6 million on October 19, 2026, with a reported seven-day increase of around 5.65%. This provides additional evidence of recent growth, although the exact figure varies by data source and measurement window. DeFiLlama Sui data

Stablecoin market capitalization measures the dollar value of stablecoins circulating on a network. It can change because of new issuance, redemptions, transfers between chains, or changes in how data providers classify assets.

The weekly increase is therefore a useful signal, but it does not establish the exact amount of fresh capital entering Sui.

USDsui Is New, and It Is the Chain's Own Bet

Sui Dollar is not an outside issuer's product. The Sui Foundation's blog announced on 12 November 2025 that USDsui would be a native stablecoin built on Bridge's Open Issuance platform. The post said the asset is intended to comply with the GENIUS Act when it takes effect.

The same post says USDsui will be interoperable with other stablecoins powered by Bridge, from platforms including Phantom, Hyperliquid and MetaMask. Adeniyi Abiodun of Mysten Labs is quoted in the post. He describes it as a launch that "connects Sui's native assets directly to global commerce, fintech, and traditional financial rails."

The foundation also said the network processed a combined $412 billion in stablecoin transfer volume between August and September 2025. That is far more than the roughly $500 million of stablecoins parked on Sui. Transfer volume counts money moving through the chain; market cap counts money sitting still.

Lending Deposits Fell as the Stablecoin Mix Shifted

DefiLlama's Sui chain page lists Suilend Protocol at $162.93 million and NAVI Protocol at $162.7 million in total value locked. Its table shows seven-day declines of 32.66% and 21.72%. Those are Sui's two largest lending markets. Their deposits fell in the same week USDC supply on the chain rose.

Could Stablecoin Growth Support SUI?

Stablecoin growth may benefit the broader Sui ecosystem, but its effect on the SUI token is indirect.

More stablecoins could create additional liquidity for decentralized applications and encourage more trading, lending, and payment activity. If that activity leads to greater use of the network, it could increase demand for SUI to pay transaction fees and interact with applications.

Sui’s stablecoin strategy also includes gasless transfers for supported transactions, reducing the need for users to hold SUI solely to pay certain transfer fees. This may lower the barrier to using stablecoins, although it also means stablecoin growth does not translate directly into equivalent demand for SUI.

For a deeper look at that strategy, read our earlier article on Sui’s stablecoin strategy and gasless transfers.

The key question is whether the increase in stablecoin supply leads to more sustained economic activity across the network. If the assets remain largely idle, the benefit to applications and token demand may be limited.

What to Watch Next

The latest increase gives Sui another positive data point as competition between blockchain ecosystems continues.

Investors and users can watch whether stablecoin market capitalization continues to rise, whether decentralized exchange volume increases, and whether lending protocols attract more deposits. The distribution of stablecoins across applications also matters because network-wide supply does not show where liquidity is being used.

It is also important to compare stablecoin growth with broader measures of network activity. A larger stablecoin market alongside stronger transactions and application usage would provide a more complete picture than market capitalization alone.

For now, the reported $32.2 million weekly increase suggests that Sui’s stablecoin base is growing. Whether this translates into stronger DeFi activity and lasting demand for SUI will depend on how users put that liquidity to work.
