Chainlink has signed a strategic partnership with LG CNS, the technology arm of LG Group, to build infrastructure for Korea's digital asset market. The deal was announced on 22 October 2026. Its headline aim is to expand "the utility and distribution of Korean stablecoins", a market the companies say has more than 11 million eligible users.

For a LINK holder, this is an announced plan, not a working product. The release says LG CNS "is now looking to integrate Chainlink's oracle infrastructure" into its platform. It gives no launch date, no revenue figure and no on-chain activity to point to yet.

What Chainlink Brings to LG CNS's Platform

LG CNS builds digital asset platform solutions for Korean institutions. Under the deal, the full Chainlink platform comes into that work. Chainlink is an oracle network, meaning it feeds outside data to blockchains and connects separate chains to each other.

The release says Chainlink's cross-chain, data and orchestration tools are "enhancing LG CNS' digital asset platform solution by supporting secure connectivity across blockchain networks and institutional systems." The two firms will also work together on technical standards for Korea's digital asset economy.

Johann Eid, Chief Business Officer of Chainlink Labs, framed it as plumbing for banks and other institutions: "Together, LG and Chainlink are providing Korean institutions with a secure and reliable foundation for moving tokenized money across systems and networks."

Hongkeun Kim, EVP and head of LG CNS's Digital Business Division, pointed at securities as well as stablecoins: "together with Chainlink, we aim to accelerate the growth of Korea's tokenized securities market by enabling secure interoperability and real-world data, while creating a foundation for global expansion."

Why the Korean Market Matters

The companies put Korea's digital asset market at $68 billion and call it Asia's second-largest. The release also says the Korean won "consistently" ranks second in crypto trading volume, behind only the US dollar. These are the companies' own figures, and we have not checked them against the underlying data.

The partner is not small. LG Group reports ₩186 trillion in assets across 63 affiliates, with a combined market cap above $100 billion across its subsidiaries.

LG CNS is also the lead contractor for Project Hangang, the Bank of Korea's flagship digital currency initiative. The project's first phase involved about 80,000 customers across seven Korean banks. The release does not say whether Chainlink's work will touch Project Hangang itself.

Other firms are also building stablecoin payments in the region, as in MoonPay and Dunamu's stablecoin payments plans.

No Named Won Stablecoin Yet

The release talks about Korean stablecoins in general. It does not name a specific won stablecoin, an issuer, a launch date or the chain one would run on. Any claim that this deal launches a particular won-pegged coin goes beyond what the companies have said.

The LINK angle rests on Chainlink's fee model. The release says "offchain and onchain revenue from enterprise adoption is converted to LINK tokens and stored in a strategic Chainlink Reserve." If LG CNS work produces paying usage, that revenue would flow into LINK under this model. How much, and when, the release does not say.

The next thing to watch is whether LG CNS moves from "looking to integrate" to a live integration, and whether a named Korean stablecoin or tokenized securities product appears on Chainlink's network.
