Sui (SUI) gained around 4.5% over a 24-hour period as investors weighed its upcoming Samsung Wallet integration, new AI infrastructure developments, and rising stablecoin activity.
Samsung announced that eligible Galaxy users in the United States will be able to use Samsung Wallet to send USDC, with Sui among the blockchain networks supporting the service. The rollout is scheduled to begin in the final week of October.
Meanwhile, Sui's ecosystem is expanding into AI-agent payments and data infrastructure. Its stablecoin market also added about $32.2 million in market capitalization over a reported seven-day period, according to figures shared by RWA Foundation through Token Terminal.
The amount of USDC sitting on Sui grew by about a fifth in a single week, just as Samsung Wallet prepares to put that stablecoin in front of millions of Galaxy owners in the US.
As of 21 October, DefiLlama shows $395.93 million of USDC on Sui. That is up 6.90% in a day, 20.95% over seven days and 28.84% over 30 days. The timing is neat, but the data can't tell us who is moving that money or why.
Samsung Wallet Wants Users Who Never Touch the SUI Token
Samsung Wallet has picked Sui as the blockchain behind USDC in its app, according to the Sui Foundation's announcement. The service covers 82 million eligible US Galaxy devices. That's a measure of reach, not of people who will actually use it.
The rollout starts in the US and expands to other markets later. Neither the post nor anything else in our reporting gives a start date.
The most telling choice is what the wallet leaves out. USDC is the only supported asset at launch, and the SUI token isn't supported at all.
That sounds odd for a Sui partnership until you look at the fees. Gasless stablecoin transfers went live on Sui's mainnet in May 2026, so someone can send USDC on Sui without paying a network fee and without first buying or holding SUI.
For a newcomer, that removes the classic first-day puzzle of crypto: needing one coin just to move another. It's a considerate piece of design. Samsung's Woncheol Chai described the goal in plain terms: "we want Galaxy users to be able to take advantage of that without having to navigate the complexity of traditional crypto tools."
Samsung isn't betting on a single chain, either. Its wallet is also set to add USDC on Solana for US transfers.
Stablecoin Growth Is Not the Same as Demand for SUI
For SUI holders, the Samsung deal is a distribution win built so that users never need the token. More USDC on Sui means more dollars parked on the network. It doesn't mean anyone bought SUI.
The network's own stablecoin tells a quieter story. DefiLlama lists Sui Dollar (USDSUI) at $78.5 million, down 1.85% over seven days, while USDC grew.
Sui also says it has processed more than $1 trillion in stablecoin transfer volume since August 2025. That is the project's own count, and transfer volume measures money moving, not how many people are moving it.
Nothing in our reporting ties any of these announcements to a move in SUI's price.
DATA Network Moves Its Chain Onto Sui
The second piece of Sui news came on 12 October. The Sui Foundation and The DATA Foundation announced that the DATA Network and its Trace registry are joining the Sui stack, with Walrus as the default storage layer.
DATA Network will run natively on Sui and retire its own chain. The Sui Foundation is investing $30 million, which the announcement calls the largest institutional stake in the network.
What holders will want to know:
- $DATA carries over one-to-one as the DATA protocol's token on Sui.
- Trace has registered more than 250 million contributions since its June launch and processes over 3 million receipts a day on average.
- There's no migration date yet. A detailed timeline and holder transition plan will be published before the upgrade.
Agent Payments Is Still a Testnet Experiment
Sui is also building payments for AI agents, the software that acts on a person's or company's behalf. Under Sui Agent Payments, an owner sets a spending grant onchain, the agent spends against it, and every payment settles on Sui in USDC with a receipt.
The spending limit is a kind detail for anyone nervous about handing a program a budget. It's also early. The service runs only on testnet, and paid calls are invite only.
A reported tie-in with Alibaba Cloud could not be confirmed from a Sui or Alibaba Cloud page, and no mainnet date has been published.
The next concrete things to watch are a Samsung Wallet launch date and DATA Network's holder transition plan. Until then, the clearest signal on Sui is the USDC figure on DefiLlama, and whether it keeps climbing once Galaxy owners can actually tap send.
