NEAR Protocol Records $10.4B in Q3 Activity as Intents Drives Network Growth
NEAR Protocol recorded $10.4 billion in Q3 Intents volume and processed 68 million transactions. Cumulative fees exceeded $52 million, with more than $8 million captured for NEAR buybacks.

NEAR Protocol recorded approximately $10.4 billion in transaction volume through its NEAR Intents service during the third quarter of 2026, highlighting the growing role of cross-chain trading in its ecosystem.
The quarter also saw the network process around 68 million transactions, averaging approximately 739,000 per day. Daily active addresses averaged 79,300, according to Nansen’s Q3 report. The figures point to substantial activity across NEAR’s applications and infrastructure.
NEAR Intents also generated more than $52 million in cumulative fees, with over $8 million captured for NEAR token buybacks. However, these fee and buyback figures are cumulative rather than amounts generated exclusively during Q3.
NEAR Intents leads the activity growth
NEAR Intents allows users to exchange assets across multiple blockchain networks without manually handling each bridging and swapping step. Users specify the transaction outcome they want, while the underlying infrastructure coordinates execution.
The service processed approximately $10.4 billion in Q3 volume. Its native frontend, near.com, accounted for around $2.57 billion of that activity.
Confidential Intents also recorded growth during the quarter. Its total value locked reached approximately $160 million by the end of September, representing a 463% increase from the previous quarter.
The expansion suggests that NEAR is developing beyond its role as a standalone blockchain. Its cross-chain infrastructure is increasingly connecting wallets, applications, and users across different networks.
Network processes 68 million transactions
NEAR’s broader network activity provides another measure of its Q3 performance.
The protocol processed approximately 68 million transactions during the quarter, averaging 739,000 daily. Daily active addresses, measured as distinct signer accounts, averaged around 79,300.
Activity peaked at more than 1.21 million transactions on September 27. Nansen's report also identified HOT Wallet, Ref Finance, NEAR, Pyth and Tether among the leading entities by transaction activity.
These figures show that NEAR’s activity extends beyond Intents. Wallets, decentralized finance applications, and other ecosystem services contribute to the network’s transaction activity.
More than $8 million captured for NEAR buybacks
NEAR Intents connects transaction activity with the protocol’s token economics through a fee-capture mechanism introduced in February 2026.
The service has generated more than $52 million in cumulative fees, while over $8 million has been captured for NEAR buybacks. The lifetime share of fees captured for buybacks reached approximately 16.4% by October 6, compared with 11.5% in the Q2 report.
The more recent 30-day fee-capture rate stood at 28.4%, down from 30.5% in the earlier comparison. These percentages measure different periods and should not be treated as interchangeable.
There is also an important distinction between fee capture and completed token purchases. The reported $8 million-plus represents cumulative buyback-related fee capture, not a confirmed Q3-only purchase total. Nor does buying tokens automatically mean they have been burned or permanently removed from circulation.
This distinction matters when evaluating the impact of the mechanism on NEAR’s available supply and long-term token economics.
Tokenomics and ecosystem expansion remain in focus
NEAR’s growing Intents activity comes as the protocol considers changes to its token supply model.
A governance proposal seeks to reduce maximum annual token issuance from 2.5% to 1.6%. If implemented, the change would slow the rate at which new NEAR tokens enter circulation.
As Altcoin Buzz recently reported in its NEAR price and tokenomics analysis, the proposal is part of a broader set of developments that includes NEAR’s expanding partnership with Ondo Finance and access to tokenized US stocks and ETFs.
Together, these initiatives show how NEAR is pursuing several sources of ecosystem growth: cross-chain trading, decentralized finance, tokenized assets, and changes to its token economics.
What comes next for NEAR?
NEAR’s Q3 figures demonstrate the scale that Intents has reached, with billions in transaction volume and a growing contribution from cross-chain activity. The network’s transaction count and active signer figures also indicate that usage extends across multiple applications.
The next important indicators will be whether Intents can maintain its volume, how much revenue the protocol actually retains, and how buyback funds translate into completed purchases. Progress on the proposed issuance reduction will also matter for holders assessing the token’s supply dynamics.
For now, NEAR’s Q3 performance provides evidence of growing ecosystem activity. Whether that growth produces sustained value for NEAR holders will depend on continued usage, transparent fee reporting, and the implementation of its tokenomics plans.
