Bybit is stepping deeper into decentralized finance with the launch of Byreal, its first-ever decentralized exchange (DEX).
According to Zhou, Byreal combines the deep liquidity of centralized exchanges (CEXs) with the open, transparent nature of DeFi. It’s a bold move in a space where speed and trust matter more than ever. So what makes Byreal different from other trading platforms? Two things: hybrid design and next-gen performance.
One of the biggest complaints in crypto trading is the gap between centralized and decentralized platforms. CEXs, like Bybit, offer deep liquidity and smooth user experiences. But they’re often criticized for lacking transparency. On the flip side, DEXs offer open ledgers and user control, yet often struggle with speed and shallow liquidity.
Byreal aims to bridge that gap. It brings together “CEX-grade liquidity” with DeFi’s open architecture. This approach is called hybrid finance (HyFi). Think of it as getting the best of both worlds. You get fast, low-slippage trades like on a big exchange, while still being able to verify everything on the blockchain.
The idea of CEX-DEX synergy isn’t new, but it’s gaining traction. Earlier this year, Binance teased similar hybrid concepts, and platforms like dYdX are exploring similar models. According to DeFiLlama, DEX volumes hit over $145 billion in May 2025, showing strong demand even in a volatile market. If Byreal can offer CEX-like performance with onchain transparency, it could tap into a growing trend.
Byreal’s backend uses two modern routing tools: RFQ (Request for Quote) and CLMM (Concentrated Liquidity Market Maker). Without getting too technical, these tools help the exchange find the best prices fast and protect users from MEV — short for “Miner Extractable Value,” which refers to bots jumping ahead of trades to make a profit.
In simple terms, Byreal lets users swap tokens quickly, safely, and with minimal fees. That’s a big deal for serious traders. Take the case of Uniswap users during Ethereum congestion. They often paid high fees and faced delays. Byreal, built on Solana, aims to avoid those bottlenecks thanks to Solana’s fast and cheap transactions.
