Firo Lelantus Upgrade Is Around the Corner

Privacy-focused cryptocurrency Firo, formerly known as Zcoin, has disclosed that its long-awaited Lelantus upgrade will soon go live.

Firo, in a GitHub update, disclosed in-depth details of the upcoming upgrade. Details like actions users are expected to carry out and how to go about testing the update.

Firo, furthermore, confirmed this announcement on Twitter.

Crypto Privacy and Firo

Crypto privacy is one of the most highly debated topics in the crypto space. Many schools of thought believe that it is a strong fort for crypto scams. Despite the clamor against crypto privacy, several crypto organizations still see privacy as a necessity. Firo is one such crypto platform.

The platform is looking to enact auto anonymity with its Lelantus upgrade. Prior to its proposed Lelantus upgrade, the platform had launched several other privacy-focused upgrades. First, it was its Zerocoin, which was followed by its Dandelion and Sigma upgrades. However, all of them had one issue or the other.

Firo’s Lelantus upgrade will bring default privacy to the privacy-focused crypto platform. This is unlike previous upgrades that heralded optional privacy. Firo’s Lelantus protocol upgrade is expected to drive awareness and subsequent adoption of the crypto platform.

Important Details To Note

With regards to the upcoming upgrade, Firo has published a few important details users are expected to take note of.

First is to note that the release about to go live is not the actual protocol itself – it is the Release Candidate. The Release Candidate will be operational on both the testnet and mainnet. With this in mind, users are not mandated to download or run the update yet. Lelantus is expected to be activated on block 336888.

Users also need to ensure they back up their wallets before carrying out any form of testing or upgrade. This will help prevent data loss during the protocol upgrade.

It is also important to note that the platform is no longer Zcoin. The release on GitHub is renamed as .firo and the zcoin.conf file is now firo.conf. Users will need to explicitly set the rename process or the protocol will not run.

Please note that Daemon users will need to start with ./firod -migratetofiro

Important Changelog
  • Firo rebrand work #933
  • Lelantus activation block is set at 336888
  • The protocol proof verification #931
Unresolved Issues
  • The protocol is still working on its localization
  • Code refractoring
  • Unit test coverage

The upgrade is sure to attract scammers. Users are advised to be on guard at all times. Do not accept unsolicited advice from individuals posing as team members. Remember – no Firo team member will initiate any form of conversation.

The first phase of Firo’s Lelantus is about to go live. The second phase is, however, slated to go live in 2021.

FIRO Price

At the time of writing, the FIRO token was trading at $4.27, with a market cap of $48,174,643 and a 24-hour trading volume of $9,332,164.
