Phantom is taking a bold step into the world of trading by launching Phantom Perps
With access to over 100 markets, up to 40x leverage, and a sleek mobile interface, the Phantom wallet aims to make advanced trading tools simple and accessible, even for beginners.
Perpetual futures, or “perps,” are a type of crypto contract that lets users speculate on the price of an asset without owning it. Unlike traditional futures, perps have no expiration date. That means traders can hold their positions as long as they want. Whether you’re expecting Bitcoin to surge or thinking DOGE might dip, perps allow you to go long (bet the price will rise) or go short (bet the price will fall).
Most perp platforms today are built for advanced traders, often with cluttered screens and complex tools. Phantom changes that. Now, anyone can trade perps right from their phone. Users just need to add funds, choose a market, and open a position. Everything happens inside Phantom’s intuitive Home tab—no switching apps or dealing with confusing layouts.
This move taps into a growing trend: mobile-first crypto. According to recent data, more than half of DeFi users now prefer mobile access. Phantom’s latest update speaks directly to this shift by giving users powerful trading tools in their pockets.
Hyperliquid has officially listed the $PUMP-USD hyperp contract in response to community demand. This allows traders to go long or short on the unlaunched PUMP token with up to 3x leverage. Unlike traditional pre-launch futures, hyperps don’t depend on external oracles for pricing. Instead, the price is based on a moving average of the hyperp’s internal mark price, which helps reduce manipulation and improve price stability. However, Hyperliquid warns that hyperps come with higher-than-normal risks.
Key factors like funding rates can shift sharply if momentum moves strongly in one direction, pushing incentives the other way. Trading is only allowed with isolated margin and low leverage. Users should be aware of low liquidity, high volatility, and increased liquidation risk. Once PUMP lists on a centralized exchange, this contract will transition into a standard perpetual.
