Solana mints record 263,000 tokens in a single day

Solana minted more than 263,000 SPL tokens in a single day, setting a new record as Pump.fun accounted for the majority of launchpad-driven creations.

Solana set a new record for daily token creation on Sept. 10, with more than 263,000 new Solana Program Library (SPL) tokens minted in a single day, according to Solscan data. The figure is more than five times the roughly 40,000 to 50,000 tokens created daily during the peak of the memecoin cycle in December 2024.

The surge highlights how quickly token creation has scaled on Solana, with automated launchpads making it possible to create and distribute new assets with little technical expertise. However, the record also needs some context: the 263,000 figure covers all newly minted SPL tokens, not just tokens launched through public launchpads.

Of the tokens tracked as launchpad creations, 40,360 were issued through launchpad platforms, with Pump.fun accounting for 34,184, according to Blockworks data. That makes Pump.fun the dominant launchpad behind this portion of Solana's token-creation activity.

Pump.fun remains central to Solana's launch economy

Pump.fun's role extends beyond the number of tokens it helps launch. The platform generated about $1.8 million in revenue over the latest 24-hour period, according to DeFiLlama data, putting it back at the top of Solana's native protocols by daily revenue after briefly being overtaken by social trading platform Fomo the previous Friday.

The platform has also become an important source of revenue for the broader Solana ecosystem. Pump.fun generated $124 million of Solana's $342 million in network revenue during the first quarter of 2026, accounting for roughly one-third of the total despite the cooling in memecoin activity from its late-2024 peak.

This makes the latest token-creation record notable for more than just the number of assets being minted. It shows that the infrastructure for launching tokens remains heavily used even as the market has moved beyond the previous memecoin frenzy.

Token creation is expanding beyond traditional memecoins

The latest wave also appears to be broader than the simple memecoin launches that dominated Solana during the previous cycle.

New launch platforms are experimenting with tokens paired against assets beyond SOL and stablecoins, including tokenized equities and other assets. StonkFun, for example, has been developing a launch model that allows tokens to trade against tokenized stocks and other assets, while connecting its launches with Raydium's LaunchLab infrastructure.

That development is important because it puts Solana into direct competition with other chains and launchpads experimenting with alternative token-pairing models.

The trend also connects with the recent competition around Robinhood Chain, where launchpads such as Pons have helped drive a sharp increase in trading activity. The shift suggests that token-launch platforms are increasingly competing not only on how easily users can create a token, but also on what assets can be used to provide liquidity and establish a market around it.

The Fomo comparison shows how competitive the launch market has become

Solana's launch economy is also evolving alongside social trading platforms. Fomo recently generated $1.76 million in daily revenue, temporarily surpassing Pump.fun's $1.1 million and showing that traders are willing to move between launchpads and social trading products when activity and incentives shift.

Pump.fun has since regained the daily revenue lead, generating roughly $1.8 million around the latest token-creation record.

This competition matters because token creation alone does not determine whether a launchpad succeeds. Platforms ultimately need trading activity, liquidity and users willing to keep interacting with the assets after they are created.

Record issuance does not mean 263,000 successful tokens

The most important distinction is between token creation and token adoption.

Creating an SPL token on Solana is relatively inexpensive and can be automated. A large number of newly created tokens therefore does not necessarily represent an equivalent increase in meaningful economic activity.

The gap between the 263,000 total SPL mints and the 40,360 launchpad-tracked tokens reinforces this point. A significant portion of the record came from activity outside the major public launchpads, meaning the raw issuance number alone cannot tell us how many of these assets attracted liquidity, trading volume or sustained users.

Solana's broader activity was nevertheless strong at the same time. The network also recorded more than 5 million daily active addresses on Sept. 10, according to CoinMarketCap's Solana ecosystem report, although the quality of address-based activity remains a subject of debate.

The combination of record token creation and elevated network activity suggests that Solana remains one of the most active environments for experimenting with new on-chain assets. Whether that activity translates into durable markets is a separate question.

Solana's token factory is getting bigger

The Sept. 10 record shows how far Solana's token-creation infrastructure has evolved since the 2024 memecoin boom.

More than 263,000 SPL tokens in one day is a new scale for the network, while Pump.fun's 34,184 launchpad creations demonstrate how much of the public token-launch economy is concentrated in automated platforms.

The next test will be whether the current wave produces assets with lasting liquidity and demand or simply increases the number of short-lived tokens competing for the same pool of traders.

For now, Solana has clearly established itself as a high-throughput token-launch environment, and the competition between Pump.fun, Fomo, newer launchpads and rival chains is likely to determine where that activity goes next.
