Crypto exchange Binance made a key update to its Alpha trading competition rules. The exchange notes that the new rules will help ensure fairness.

Binance, in a tweet on X, said only purchases made using its Alpha token or gotten from its Spot Market will count in rankings. The trading platform said it reached the decision due to feedback from its community, as many users had complained of unfair practices.

Emphasizing its commitment to transparency, Binance said Alpha rankings will now reflect the revised standards.

“Only transactions where Binance Alpha tokens are purchased using Binance Alpha tokens or Binance Spot Market tokens will be deemed valid and counted. Transactions that do not meet this criterion—including those involving unsupported or manipulated tokens—will be excluded from ranking calculations,” Binance wrote.

“We remain committed to providing a fair experience for all participants and greatly appreciate the community’s continued vigilance and support,” it added.

Push for transparency.

Binance is working on improving its community transparency and maintaining the integrity of its alpha program. Last week, the exchange said it detected coordinated bot activity in Alpha Points’ early-access program. In addition, the crypto trading platform will enforce strict measures on users found manipulating its system.

Binance launched its Alpha program in 2024. Since then, it has become a giant part of the Binance ecosystem. Binance Alpha allows participants to discover new Web3 projects, earn Alpha points, and take part in airdrops and other exclusive events.

Additionally, tightening its eligibility criteria not only improves community trust, but it also aligns with broader trends. Airdrops and cryptocurrency trading competitions have gained popularity in recent months. This puts pressure on exchanges to ensure a level playing field for users.

As a result, it protects retail traders and also ensures healthy liquidity management and engagement. These are core parts of Binance’s long-term strategy.
