CoinGate announced that it has added support for Litecoin (LTC) Lightning Network payments, enabling faster payments with lower fees.

Lithuania-based CoinGate, a payment gateway for blockchain payments, announced in a tweet the support for Lightning Network payments with Litecoin. The Lightning Network offers faster payments with lower fees.

By adding the Litecoin Lightning Network, Coingate has opened up the payment option to the more than 4,500 merchants currently using the CoinGate platform. The CoinGate team said about the Litecoin Lightning Network support:

“Since the launch, we saw over 30,000 created orders to pay with Lightning which suffice as a strong sign that both our customers and the crypto community have a keen interest in this development. Seeing the huge potential it has, we decided to keep developing the feature, but this time, for Litecoin.”

The Litecoin team also shared the news with their followers via a more extensive blog post:

According to the blog post by the Litecoin Foundation, CoinGate added the Litecoin Lightning Network after completing an initial test period with merchant partner SurfShark, a VPN provider.

At the time of writing, Litecoin is trading at $44.56, up 0.71% over the past 24-hours, according to data from CoinMarketCap.
