There are some recent and notable developments from the Cardano blockchain. Therefore, Altcoin Buzz takes a look at the updates from the first week of January to keep readers informed.
Recent report shows the Cardano blockchain comes out top in terms of development on GitHub in 2021. In addition, a Cardano-based platform partners with Samsung to fight climate change. Let’s look at these updates from last week in detail.
1 – Cardano Tops GitHub Rankings for Most Developed Crypto Platform
Based on reports from CryptoRank Platform and Santiment, Cardano ranks first in terms of development among crypto projects. Besides, the report points out that the platform tops the chart with over 140,000 GitHub events in the year 2021.
In case you’re wondering, a GitHub event involves actions like creating a pull request, forking/starring/watching a code repository, creating an issue, or commenting on an issue or pull request.
In addition, we have Kusama Network in second place with Polkadot in third place. Cardano is also above Ethereum and Gnosis, who are fourth and fifth, respectively.

2 – Cardano-Based Platform Partners With Samsung
Veritree, a Cardano-based climate solutions platform, is partnering with Samsung Electronics America to take a step in fighting climate change.
They’ll be setting up a nature-based project to foster the capture and cleaning of carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere.
Besides, the goal of this project is to plant two million trees in Madagascar by Q1 2022. These trees are mangroves; they’re the world’s most effective nature-based carbon sinks. They capture, store, and remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
In addition, Veritree will utilize blockchain in managing the tree-planting initiative by verifying and tracking the progress of the reforestation process.
