This is exactly what open-source software publisher did with the launch of an upgraded version of its protocol. This announcement first appeared in a tweet on January 10, 2020.

It seems like this is exactly what had in mind when offering the new service to its users.

Reason for the launch

Prior to the launch, the company had developed a plan. And, from what we can gather, has a number of reasons for this new release. Thus, the upgrade will ensure is quicker, easier and more secure.

As per a blog post by EOS, there will also be changes in the smart contract virtual machine. Accordingly, the platform has decided to include a WASM engine, where EOS smart contracts operate. With these changes in place, smart contract execution on will be greatly improved.

Importantly, alleges that the upgrade is about sixteen times faster than the previous version.

Alongside the upgrade, 2.0 will also launch a WebAuthn support. For the uninitiated, it is a web authentication standard based on public-key cryptography. With WebAuth for, developers will be able to test the signing of transactions.

At the end of the day, this is a serious move by It signifies that the company is ready to work on continuous improvements aimed at bettering user experience.
