Web3 Weekend Asia (W3W), the first and largest community-based competition in Indonesia, was successfully organized by Coinvestasi and BlockDevId, with backing from Google Cloud.
The event, which drew over 160 people, provided a platform and chances for Indonesian crypto developers and builders to create creative and helpful products. Let’s discover more about this web3 event.
Web3 Weekend Asia Aims to Increase Crypto Developer Adoption
This event had a series of workshops and training sessions guided by web3 experts from May 11th to May 17th. The workshops covered various topics including DAOs, social impact, games and metaverse, data analysis, and NFTs.
After the first stage, the curation of crypto projects occurred from June 1st to June 3rd. The event had more than 150 submissions across all categories from the top 30 projects.
From June 5th to June 9th, 2023, participants in these 30 categories attended extra mentoring sessions. Following the coaching sessions, the mentors evaluated the top six proposals, which were then chosen to physically demonstrate their projects during Demo Day.

The top six projects were: Hexa Play, WasteChain, Encoteki, Sekuya Multiverse, Socioverse, and Cryptokaget. Also, the judges included Rahmat Albariqi, Founder & CEO of Paras; Markus Liman Raharja, Chief Investment Officer of BRI Ventures; and William Sutanto, Co-founder and CTO of Indodax, as well as the Founder of BlockDevID.
Wasterchain, CryptoKaget, and Encoteki Won the Event
On this demo day, WasteChain came out as the winner. WasteChain brings a waste management system using blockchain technology to increase transparency and accountability.
Ian Rachman, the founder of WasteChain, expressed his joy as the winner and said: “I am very happy to be the winner and to leverage the opportunities provided by Web3 Weekend. This experience has provided us with validation, training, and valuable connections with experts in the blockchain field.”
On the other hand, CryptoKaget got second position. This project focuses on preventing bots and ensuring that only genuine users can claim rewards, thereby creating a secure environment.
Also, Encoteki claimed the third position with their NFT project aimed at protecting endangered animals in Indonesia by implementing value-added incentives that benefit society.
Finally, Reco, Sekuya Multiverse, and Socioverse emerged as finalists in the competition. As an additional reward. It’s important to mention that the top 6 finalists received free tickets to attend Coinfest Asia, the largest web3 festival event in Asia, scheduled to be held in Bali on August 24-25, 2023.
