The Topps Company (Topps) is the leading producer of trading cards and collectibles based in New York. And now, they are going to launch their cards on the Worldwide Asset eXchange (WAX).
Founded in 1938, Topps is the sole card manufacturer with a contract with Major League Baseball (MLB). Aldo, it has an extensive range of collectibles with many popular names from WWE, NHL, UEFA Champions League, and more.
Garbage Pail Kids
Garbage Pail Kids (GPK) came out in 1985 designed to parody the Cabbage Patch Kids dolls. They are a series of sticker trading cards that feature a Garbage Pail Kid character having some comical abnormality. Garbage Pail Kids is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year.
To make this anniversary even more special, trading cards from Garbage Pail Kids will be available. WAX and Topps have teamed up to bring digital trading cards onto the blockchain. This will be the first time collectors will be able to experience trading Topps collectibles on the blockchain.
Ultra-Rare Golden Card
Buyers of the GPK card packs will automatically be eligible to win an Ultra-Rare Golden card. Only 100 of these cards will be minted and this event runs only for a limited time. The distribution of the Golden cards will take place by 9 pm PST on June 30, 2020.
GPK WAX series cards
The GPK WAX card series has 41 characters and come in 1 of 4 rarities. Each of the cards comes with either an “A” name and a “B” name.
- Base – Standard static cards included in every pack.
- Prism – Uncommon cards, these cards feature a prismatic sheen effect.
- Sketch – Rare cards that feature an animated transition from original sketches to final art.
- Collector’s Edition – Super rare cards with special animations.
