There is plenty of news regarding Cardano (ADA) circulating at the moment. The latest is the announcement from the IOHK Team about the recent mainnet upgrade to Cardano 1.5.
“Today we release Cardano 1.5 on the Cardano mainnet. The Cardano 1.5 release is a milestone because it is the last major Cardano release of the Byron development phase, which we have been in since the launch of mainnet.” IOHK Team
For those who are not aware, the IOHK team are the company who develop and maintain Cardano. In line with their roadmap and planned release schedule, version 1.5 represents a major milestone as they transition to the Shelley development phase and the Ouroboros Genesis protocol. Cardano 1.5 brings several improvements, as well as upgrades to ensure a smooth transition to the new protocol. The most notable points from the release notes are:
• Support for the Ouroboros BFT protocol (preparation for Shelley)
• New block consolidation status screen
• Japanese Installers
If you have any Cardano it is important that you upgrade to version 1.5 in preparation for the Ouroboros BFT hard fork.

Development progress, delivered within given time frames, is something that we know is always well received. Cardano continues to work towards improving the functionality of its blockchain. The fact that Cardano already uses proof of stake is an important point to remember, a change that Ethereum plans to implement in the future.
