Crypto.com to Sponsor 2021 Coppa Italia Final

Leading cryptocurrency platform Crypto.com has announced a strategic partnership with Lega Serie A to be the official sponsor of the 2021 Coppa Italia Final between Atalanta and Juventus.

Crypto.com disclosed the collaboration via an official blog post, noting that it has secured a first-of-its-kind partnership agreement that will see it become the sponsor of the 2021 Coppa Italia Final. This event is slated to take place May 19 where Italian soccer giants Juventus and Atalanta will battle each other for the championship trophy.

The crypto platform also revealed that the partnership will extend further into the future after the Coppa Italia Final. The partnership aims to create new experiences for football fans in Italy and throughout the world.

Expressing his delight with the collaboration, Luigi De Siervo, CEO of Lega Serie A, said his team was glad to be the first football league to sign a partnership of this magnitude globally.

He said, “[…] Lega Serie A aims to expand its target audience and continues the international growth of the brand, always looking to the future and innovation. The Coppa Italia Final will be an expression of these values and will offer millions of fans around the world an exciting experience not only on the pitch, but also before and after the game, thanks to the many commercial and marketing initiatives that we will organize with our partners.”

Coppa Italia Final NFT Collection to Be Unveiled

As a result of the collaboration, Crypto.com will be launching a non-fungible token (NFT) collection based on the Coppa Italia Final. The collection will celebrate the fact this is the first time Atalanta and Juventus are meeting in the final. The NFT collection will feature highlights of the game as well as the official trophy and more.

Kris Marszalek, co-founder and CEO of Crypto.com, noted that the collaboration will aim to bridge the gap between blockchain technology and football. According to him, this is a “unique opportunity” to support the world’s most popular sport.

“We are proud to collaborate with an exceptional partner such as Lega Serie A, the latest in an exciting roadmap of sports partnerships we’ll soon be announcing,” he said.

It is also worth noting that Lega Serie A is not the first sports organization to create NFTs on the Crypto.com platform. Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One Team holds that record by unveiling the first NFTs to commemorate their return to the Formula One racing league.

Sports Organizations and NFTs

The massive growth of NFTs in the crypto space has been remarkable. Every aspect of global industries, such as music, arts, games, and more, have become part of the NFT space.

The sports world has heavily invested in NFTs with platforms such as Sorare and Chilliz facilitating several major sports organization partnerships with NFTs. The NBA has also entered the non-fungible token space with NBA Top Shot.

Teams like the Golden State Warriors have unveiled a range of NFT collectibles. The Dallas Mavericks are considering turning game tickets into NFTs.
